Pharmacy College Participates in Workshop on “Best Practices for Planning and Evaluation of Interprofessional Education”

A team from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences composed of the Dean Prof. Nageeb Hassan, Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department Dr. Moawia Altabakha, Head of Clinical Sciences Department Dr. Moayed Alomar and the Coordinator of the Office of Experiential Learning Dr. Subish Palaian, Dr. Sanah Hasan and Dr. Manal Buabeid attended the 5th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop under the theme “Best Practices for Planning and Evaluation of Interprofessional Education”. On February 23-24, 2020. The event was hosted by Al Ain University-Abu Dhabi campus in collaboration with the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education, UAE in collaboration with the Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE), International service (Chicago, USA) and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), Virginia, USA.

The two-day workshop was designed to emphasize on preparing health professions students for interprofessional teamwork. Participants were explored seminal reports, review consensus terminology, and discussed facilitators and barriers to IPE. The movement towards programmatic approaches to IPE has been highlighted. Team times have been utilized throughout the workshop and have been facilitated by the workshop presenters. A mix of unstructured time discussed ideas with colleagues, along with structured activities have participants to apply information gained from each session. Team times were designed to allow participants to create a practical plan for implementation of IPE at their home institution.
