Pharmacy College Dean Partakes in International Conference

The Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at the University of Ajman, Prof. Najeeb Hassan, participated in the meeting of the deans of pharmacy colleges in the Arab world which was organized by Ain Shams University. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 2nd International Conference of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University. The conference was entitled "Future Directions in the Development of Pharmaceutical Research and Education".

During the conference, the conferees discussed encouraging the pharmacy colleges in the Arab universities to activate the recommendations and decisions of the scientific association/union of the faculties of pharmacy in the Arab world. The conferees also discussed stepping up the work on increasing the joint Arab research teams and activating the joint inter-Arab university agreements.

Implementing this would be a step forward in order to meet the requirements of the local, regional and global labor market, in addition to working to develop the skills and competencies of the pharmacists through continuing pharmacy education through holding workshops and linking research with pharmacy colleges to solve the problems of medicine industry in the Arab world.

Prof. Najeeb Hassan, also, participated in the meeting held with the Secretary General of the Arab Pharmacists Union that was convened to discuss the proposals of the Arab Pharmaceutical Board by a number of members of the Arab Pharmaceutical Scientific Council.  This board will be a nucleus of joint cooperation to qualify the Arab pharmacists to pass a single exam at the level of the Arab Pharmacist Licensure Examination (APLEX), which should be equivalent to the practice exam in the United States and some developed European countries, to further qualify Arab pharmacists.

The attendees agreed to discuss the final blueprint and adopt it in subsequent meetings of the assembly.
