Asthma Conference Recommendations

The International Conference on Asthma at Ajman University of Science and Technology witnessed extensive scientific researches being presented by local, regional and international experts. The outcome were recommendations that will be beneficial to patients suffering from asthma and the community at large, reducing the risk and improving the lung health in United Arab Emirates.

The recommendations put forth include promoting the awareness campaign of asthma and its effects on individuals and society. Highlighting the role of Asthmatic friend’s society in UAE and the Arabian Gulf. Working cooperatively with Ministry of Health and Ajman Medical Zone for establishing Asthmatic Medical Information Centre.

Activating the role of the pharmacist in educating the society and raising their awareness levels of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

An interesting recommendation was to increase the taxes on cigarettes and other smoking materials to discourage the vice of smoking and thereby contributing to the smoking cessations campaign.

It also called for the support of more scientific research and the organizing of conference related to asthma and COPD.as well as encouraging early diagnosis of asthma as most of asthmatic patients treat it as cold or influenza symptoms.
