University of Khartoum honors the Deputy Dean of College of Pharmacy Fujairah Campus

The Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Khartoum, Sudan celebrated its Golden Jubilee under the slogan "a glorious past and a bright future" and in recognition of their distinguished efforts, the Faculty honored a number of pioneers of pharmacy practice in Sudan. Among the honorees was Professor Sumia Sir Elkhatim, Deputy Dean College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Ajman University of science and technology at Fujairah Campus.

She is the first female to obtain First Class Honors degree from a Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Khartoum and to be appointed as a faculty member. Her achievements contributed effectively to enrich academic life and research at the Faculty for many years. She is the leader in the introduction of clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical care in the Sudan, through her initiative of establishing the first graduate program, Master of Clinical Pharmacy as the first of its kind in the Sudan.

A series of scientific lectures, seminars and workshops were attended by Prof. Sumia including a Workshop on developing the Faculty of pharmacy curriculum, which involved Deans of Colleges of Pharmacy of the universities of Great Britain (London and Bradford), Japan (Komomoto), India (GS), Malaysia (Saint Malaysia), Jordan (University of Jordan) in addition to representatives from the World Health Organization. She also chaired a workshop that discussed modern pharmaceutical practices to develop a roadmap for pharmacy practice in Sudan to keep abreast of modern developments in the practice.
