College of Pharmacy Organizes Diabetes Awareness Event

On the occasion of the World Diabetes Day, female students from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University of Science and Technology organized a diabetes awareness session for the fifth year in a row.

The events started by a walk to increase the awareness towards the commonly prevalent diabetes.  Dr. Ahmad Ankit and Dr. Basher Shehadeh attended and participated with the Pharmacy College Dean, Staffs and students.

The students conducted health checkups by measuring blood pressure, blood glucose level and body mass index for students, staff and patients. In a few hours, over hundred tests were carried out on campus.

Showing their support for diabetes patients all participating students dressed in blue as practiced by the International Diabetes Federation.

It proved to be very useful to students, as it gave them the chance to practice their profession and enhance their clinical skills as well as awareness benefits to the patients who appreciated the free tests. The tests were performed accurately and professionally, along with proper patient counselling according to the results.

Educational posters were exhibited on the sidelines of the event increase to increase awareness about the disease risk factors, symptoms and prevention.
