Sanah Hasan


Dr Hasan received her PhD in 2013 from Monash University, Australia, her PharmD in 2002, and her BS in pharmacy in 1994 from the School of Pharmacy, University of Kansas, Kansas, USA.
Dr Sanah Hasan is a faculty, previously at Dubai Pharmacy College, Purdue University Gateway Institute, the University of Sharjah and currently at Ajman University of Science and Technology where she is involved in teaching clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice courses and tutorials and is involved in supervising training of students on their final year rotations.
She is the invited speaker at multiple regional and international conferences and workshops, and the principal investigator of several research projects focusing on pharmacy practice and community pharmacy services in the UAE and the region.

My professional practice career started after obtaining my Bachelor of Pharmacy degree as a staff pharmacist at Hays Medical Center, Hays Kansas, USA. Responsible for the establishment of a comprehensive program for pharmacists and technicians to promote pharmacists’ role: IV to Oral switch therapy, antibiotic streamlining, patient profile reviews, providing drug information to health professionals and patients, filling prescription orders, filling and checking unit dose carts, checking IV admixtures including large and small volume IV’s, neonatal and adult TPN’s and Chemotherapy. Experience with automated dispensing machines like PYXIS, automatic medication stop orders, controlled substance management and antibiotic streamlining.
I have also been involved in designing continuing professional education programs for pharmacists in collaboration with local and international institutions and pharmaceutical companies such as the MCO company and Pfizer Corporation. 

* My scholarly activities are focused on conducting professional practice research, co-supervising Master’s and Doctoral theses involving international collaborations
*Serving as journal peer reviewer, membership in research groups, membership in professional organizations and supervising undergraduate student research projects.
*My research focuses on clinical and social issues associated with the use of medicines.
* Focus areas of research include asthma management, characteristics of pharmacy practice and pharmacy services in the UAE and the region, patient satisfaction and expectations of pharmacy services, physicians' perspectives of pharmacy services and their readiness to participate in collaborative arrangements with pharmacists, screening services for chronic disease, health promotion and disease prevention
*Pharmacy education research including TBL , OSCE and cultural competency within the curriculum.
